We are pleased to announce that the very first of the locally grown asparagus is now available in our farm shop. A delicious spring time treat that just happens to be very good for you:
"Asparagus is low in calories and is very low in sodium. It is a good source of vitamin B6, calcium, magnesium, and zinc, and a very good source of dietary fibre, protein, beta-carotene, vitamin C, vitamin E, vitamin K, thiamin, riboflavin, rutin, niacin, folic acid, iron, phosphorus, potassium, copper, manganese, and selenium, as well as chromium, a trace mineral that enhances the ability of insulin to transport glucose from the bloodstream into cells." source https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asparagus
Of course we're also very busy in the kitchen preparing asparagus dishes such as asparagus soup and asparagus quiche for our tea room customers. So whether you want to cook it yourself or enjoy the efforts of our cooking get yourself down to
The Orchard Tea Room
